The premise of this disturbing movie is that, if most females disappeared from the world due to a gender-specific plague, most men would be willing to kidnap and, presumably, rape a 9 or 10 -year-old girl. The reviews all seem to accept this premise as believable. Did Casey Affleck’s desire to tell this story have anything to do with his recent problems with women and the #metoo movement? I have no idea. He and the young girl who plays his daughter are both excellent actors, but Holy Hell!
