Very disappointing. The app needs some tweaking: replays skip the first item in the list & dialogues need to be paced for the beginner learner of Arabic. Natural, clear and slow pronunciation is key for the learner when trying to recognise and mimic the sounds. Some speakers don't slow down their speech sufficiently for this. Worst still are the mistakes in the book. For example, the Arabic script in relation to the English text. On p.18, the customer orders a coffee in English (and the Arabic transliteration), but looking at the Arabic script it clearly shows 'shay' (tea). On p.14, they also swop the male and female labels for the 'be' verb conjugated for 'you'. I'm only on p.21 now and I'm wondering what's lying ahead... Once something is printed, the reader accepts it to be correct. That's why editors and proofreaders are on there. Trust is imperative when communicating language points to a beginner learner and now I'm a bit hesitant to just accept the knowledge presented in this course. Maybe not a bad thing in today's world, but I was really hoping for a higher standard from the DK brand.
