Cary Grant & Myrna Loy play well off middle class New York urbanites who decide to up sticks from their cramped flat and move to a large country home in rural Connecticut. They ignore everyone's advice to buy a rundown property and then ignore everyone's advice on the design for a new one when they have to knock it down.
They are portrayed as a smart savvy couple so I found it too difficult to believe they would make so many exceptionally stupid decisions. The most entertaining part of the film was the suggestion that Mrs Blandings was having an affair with their old friend and adviser. It improves marginally in the last 10 minutes but not enough to recommend watching it.
I enjoy almost everything I have seen Cary Grant in but even his presence throughout couldn't lift this film from being dull and a sad waste of good actors.
