I loved it. It’s hard to watch at times because it’s so realistic and you find yourself relating to The Joker and his hardships. Joaquin Phoenix is spot on, best acting I’ve seen. The overall feel of the movie is depressing and violent but that’s what makes it so relatable because that’s the world we live in. The Joker is a crazy, vicious, broken man and yet I felt compassion and sympathy for him and disgusted with the society that failed him and treated him so harshly. This movie does not hold back and it delivers a disturbing look at how mental illness and unfortunate people live and how they are treated. When your rooting for the villain as sadistic as this character it leaves you feeling confused. Powerful movie and brutally realistic.
