There is so much genuine human emotion in this movie-- but understated. No jerking if the tears. The panoramas of the deserts and the mountains are so achingly beautiful, you can see why Fern doesnt want to settle down in any one place. She is warm and caring, but detached; empathetic without condescension; grieving, but without pathos. The people she meets and camps with are equally engaging. This is a lifestyle worth attention, even if not one we ordinary settled bourgeois folks are eager to share.
