I just saw this movie with my wife and it was pretty bad. I wouldn’t recommend this for children or adults. Two major problems a parent will find is that it’s overall violent and cruel, and there’s blatant alcohol references. In one scene, you can read vodka on a bottle but the bottle is slightly turned so you only see dka. On a little bit of a deeper level, the overall themes and messages scattered in the movie were dark and confusing. The animals in the movie are on a type of concentration camp. Raccoons wear an arm band that obviously mirrors the Nazis. The animals (that aren’t the raccoons) are taken one by one and crushed to death by a device that captures their molding for a crazed glass sculptor (human). Then, the bodies are thrown in a furnace. The main character, Cape, is trying to reach a place they call peachtopia looking for his mom. Peachtopia is obviously some kind of utopia where life is supposed to be perfect for cats. When Cape, accompanied by others, finally reach “peachtopia”, they decide it’s not where they want to be but decide utopia could be wherever you want it to be. Again, the concepts of Nazis, concentration camps, reaching Utopia are a bit too much for a kids movie.
