I watched back in 68 never understood it. in 1998 as a freshman computer science student it was required viewing and I understood the meaning of HAL taking over the mission. recall 1998 was when the internet was just coming on the scene with yahoo messenger and AOL you got mail it was cool and something new now in 2018 it's like we have all these social media sites coming out our eyeballs and like HAL it's totally run amok. Overall this is a great movie and very relevant 51 years later
