Played for a whole month without making progress, turns out only the first player to setup the island can do certain things required to progress (player one played for 10 minutes and quit forever). I've wasted so much time at this point that I'm not just going to restart as the primary player. Maybe they will fix this issue with a patch but it's been extremely disappointing so far.
