Except for the absurd, out of left field, theatrical song finale, obviously meant to leverage Zendaya’s fan base, this series is genius. It takes film making to an entirely new level, using sophisticated, yet highly artistic narrative plays to help convey the stories in a fresh, conscious penetrating manner.
I’ve read reviews by viewers who are probably in the age group of the characters, maligning the series intent. I was shocked to see that this is actually great filmmaking, elegantly executed. HBO, please greenlight this for at least 2 more years. Even with the insufferable, tacked on song numbers, it is absolutely must watch television.
