This movie is extremely painful in some spots so if you are sensitive to viewing abuse, I recommend you not to watch or watch in doses as it can trigger some very powerful reminders. It does not have a conclusion or solution, so don't expect it. It is a representation of a young man trying to make sense of the past in order to influence his future, making it open to interpretation. He battles to understand the inconsistencies of what he is brought up to believe and what his truth is. He searches for some small amount of humanity in his life and finds solace sporadic and brief.
Thank you for digging deep and sharing! Many people who were brought up self-parenting have the same questions. "Clear signs of PTSD from what?" is the question most of them ask. This story is hard to hear but for those who have lived similarly, it is cathartic. You have to be open, receptive and understanding. Comprehending the ironic and painful nuances of these types of relationships takes courage and a certain amount of humility.
This film was done artfully and I wouldn't change a thing.
My favorite line-
"These actions that made you feel completely ashamed and totally discouraged will allow you to share with other people how to be a useful human being"
