Beautiful escapism! A dark fairy tale that turns the idea of women needing to be rescued on it head. Fast paced, wonderfully engaging with Millie Bobby Brown making us believe every moment, an amazing actress! The story is a simple premise but with some complexity in emotions making it a richer narrative. The visual effects are designed to create an atmospheric spiritual journey and the beauty contrasts with the darkness of Elody’s situation. The ending was good but I feel Elody’s character wouldn’t revel in the demise of others, how ever horrible they had been. But a satisfying ending nonetheless! I would have liked to have seen a slightly more complex narrative that delves into to Elody’s ordeal more to really understand the depth of her character, her resilience and bravery in such a situation, but then again, if this was aimed at families with teenagers, then it was probably right on target!

I am so very surprised to read these reviews. I really liked this film and saw it as a but real observational-view of what a single woman in her fifties may go through. It was really charming and refreshing that they didn't make an obvious blockbuster type romantic, un-realistic movie where they fall in love and end up together in romantic bliss. I applaud Julian Moore for her role, which was beautifully understated, sensitive, touching and really relatable .
