As a teen the same age as the characters I didn’t find this show relatable in material experience. I haven’t been to a real party in my entire life. I don’t do drugs. I’ve never been drunk. I've never had a romantic relationship. As embarrassing as it is to admit, I also have zero friends. Overall my Highschool experience has been boring and lonely. But what I found entirely relatable about this show, was the the emotion. The want to be understood. The fear of being misunderstood. The fear of growing up and still being lost within yourself. The fear of not even understanding yourself. That’s what being a teenager is, and that’s why it’s such an irrational and melodramatic period in life. It feels like this endless quest to figure out, "who am I?". And by the last episode of the show you can feel the characters starting to slowly make their way to an answer. I think Michael Kiwanuka's song, "Rule The World" really highlights that feeling: I don't understand the game Or who I'm meant to be It's driving me insane The way you're playing me Help me to see Who I can be Help me to know Where I can go Take me out of myself again Help me lose control Show me love, show me happiness I can't do this on my own

I see a lot of reviewers airing their dislike for the main character, Angela, and I fully understand why. She does display stunted qualities. She seems to have a disregard for others opinions, and is very stuck within herself. But the unlike-able and annoying qualities that Angela displays is an honest depiction of agoraphobia. These irrational and crippling fears about the outside world, and the people in it, create a self imposed distance and make you seem shallow and sometimes arrogant. You spend so much time protecting yourself from perceived danger, and you isolate to the extreme. You become out of touch. Your fears steer you, and yeah those fears can turn into an unpleasantness. When people try to push you out of your comfort zone for the better you get angry, sad, and just become a genuinely unpleasant person to be around. It seems impossible to do the things that others seem to do with ease. You develop a very defeatist mindset. That’s the reality of agoraphobia. You give into irrationality which is a very unattractive quality to most normally functioning individuals. So I completely understand how people dislike the way she acts, but I don’t understand how that would play a significant role in deciding whether the film was good or bad. Plenty of humans aren’t entirely likable. I meet unlikable people everyday. I love to see characters in films with flaws. It’s much more realistic, and honestly her unlikable character traits are the saving grace for this film because beyond that there isn’t an ounce of depth. This film felt like watching people from afar. It didn’t feel fully fleshed out. It was fleetingly intimate. When I finished it I thought to myself, "that’s it?". By the end of it I was just starting to get an honest look at who Angela really is, but then instead of that it’s just this rushed ending. Sure I guess it’s a…happy ending? She officially begins a relationship with a man that we never really learn much about. Honestly, I just felt empty after watching this. I don’t know how else to describe it.

This Show was actually quite enjoyable, but the acting was a little awkward for the first like 2 episodes. But it did depict Gen z well. I really liked how some of the characters were there to sort of defuse the hyper wokeness of some conversations and turn it into a joke. I also really liked the character Leighton. Her interaction with the very sensitive individuals at the volunteer center was quite funny.

In the first scene of the show Colin stands in front of a screen that shows men doing a combine. And then the next second you see this scene morph into slaves being poked and prodded by slave masters. Its very visceral and meant to make the audience sympathize with men who get payed millions of dollars to play a sport. Meanwhile others who actually contribute meaningful things to this world, get majorly underpaid. But I guess we should feel bad for overpaid athletes, because....Slavery? Another issue I have with the show is the way being a black and white biracial is portrayed, and its not even just this show that does it. Many shows do it, and I don't know why. I guess it is his personal experience, but I feel at this point its majorly overused when describing the biracial experience. As a biracial person I feel as though I am biracial. I don't feel the need to say that I am just black or just white, because I am not just those thing. I am a combination of both. Why do so many biracial people on tv always have to act is if they are solely black, and that being around white people is so hard for them when they are literally half white. Also the scenes in this show about racism that Kaepernick faced in the early 2000's seemed dramatized and unbelievable often times. I am not saying that us biracial individuals don't face discrimination. Of course it happens. Plus not every biracial person looks clearly mixed. Some pass as black and some pass as white, so experiences vary greatly. But Colin is racially ambiguous/mixed looking. If you look at real pictures of him as a teen he looks nothing like the could be black passing actor he chose to play him. Its hard to believe for a second that in California in the early 2000's he was being treated like this when he looks so racially ambiguous. I mean who is really looking at him and seeing a fully black man? But I think there were some good takeaways. I do like how he mixed in some history throughout the episodes. I thought the snippet about the baseball player was quite interesting. Also I love Nina Simone, and seeing her in there was nice. Also the actor playing young Kaepernick did a good job. But I do feel that this show was an extension of Kaepernick's self obsession. Don't get me wrong what happened with the whole kneeling thing was dramatic. The backlash he faced for that was totally blown out of proportion. Personally I think Americans care too much about the flag and patriotism in general. People were acting like some man kneeling at their oh so precious star bangled banner anthem was the end of everything. Quite honestly the song sucks, and every time I hear it I want to go deaf. The only person to ever get it right was Whitney Houston. I 100% would understand if someone wanted to kneel even just in protest of how awful the song was lol. But yeah the show wasn't that good in my opinion, and Kaepernick isn't the activist he claims to be either. He is very self aggrandizing most of the time as are plenty of celebrities'.

Loved this movie, but one review stands out. Specifically Cantags review. Now this is not to say that I agree with the commenter that Cantag was speaking of, but Cantags comment is no better. A movie shouldn't be defined and judge based off of how many skin tones are in it. I see nothing wrong with the cast of Free Guy. Race doesn't in any deep sense cross my mind when I watch movies or go about my life. But Cantag you are just as obsessed with race as the commenter you were upset at. Directly from you: "In fact when I see a movie trailer that has more than 2 black people in it I purposely avoid watching the movie". You go on to say its bc they only play stereotyped roles which is untrue. You must have a warped view of what fulfilling a stereotype is. Instead of stating that forced diversity is not good you went on a rant about how black people are not capable of being equal to white people in acting. You make an entirely asinine claim that white people run the acting industry due to being inherently more gifted. There are a good amount of great black actors and you probably ignore them(Ex:Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Idris Alba, Will Smith, Angela Basset, Lupita N'Yongo, Kerry Washington, Cuba Gooding Jr, etc). But of course there are more great white actors in big Hollywood films. White people in America and in the UK(which is where the big films come from) make up the majority of the population. Black people are a minority, and from that pulling only a small amount become actors and then an even smaller amount become successful actors. So yes white people have a larger amount of actors, and more successful ones because of a larger pulling pool and more opportunities for lead roles, etc. Of course they will be shown on screen more. That being said the U.S. is a melting pot. It should be noted that the United States is one of the most diverse countries ethnically and racially. That diversity will often be shown on screen, and isn't necessarily forced diversity in many cases but rather a reflection of the demographic. Considering many movies made by the U.S. take place in major cities where the demographic is quite diverse why wouldn't they have a fair amount of people of different ethnicities and races on the big screen? And your comment about Bollywood not having diversity is also quite stupid, and you lack critical thinking skills. Asian countries are some of the most racially homogenous countries in the world. There is not a lot of diversity in India. Of course diversity wouldn't be a priority considering their demographic is homogenous. And you stating that white actors are far more interesting than black actors says more about you than anyone else. Its clear based off of your comment that you wouldn't be able to relate to good black actors like you do good white actors. You obviously see some significant difference between you and them. Such a strange and regressive person you are.

It was okay at some points. As a 17 year old a part of gen z I did not really relate much to the show, and found that the dialogue coming from the teens made them seem entirely whiny and dramatic to a fault. The show seems like it is trying to make a statement but falls Incredibly flat because a lack of depth and whiny delivery. But, I will say it definitely depicts the overly woke and sensitive side of Gen Z well. Don’t get me wrong I love a good show that explores the struggles of Gen Z, however over the top those struggles may be, but this show did not know how to execute. The whole time I was thinking that it was a Walmart version of Euphoria. At least with Euphoria it actually has good dialogue, and brings some light to teenage drug use. And Euphoria did a much better job of naturally bringing in topics such as sexuality and gender that this more liberal gen likes to talk about a lot. Euphoria was actually a somewhat thought provoking show too. Generation left me rolling my eyes, cringing, and sometimes feeling neutral.

I know some viewers are/where upset about the speculative lesbian romance that is basically the entirety of the movie, but putting that aside I gave it a chance. It is a Hollywood movie, and at the end of the day truth telling is not often at the forefront. I think the movie could have had more dialogue. The characters where quiet, but not in a way that added any depth to them. In portrait of a lady on fire for example, this quietness is utilized properly. You still feel as though the characters have depth. The silence throughout this movie just left me disengaged. I think the sex scene was also too graphic. It added no artistic value. It was definitely unneeded. But, the movie did have nice scenery. The Ocean shots where very nice, and I do think that Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet did a good job at acting with what they had. Overall, it was a dull movie with 2 sex scenes that might have pulled some viewers back in for the moment.

I don’t really know how I feel about the show. As a 17 year old who grew up on military bases the scenery is so familiar and realistic. One thing that confuses me though, and maybe it is just me, but the experiences of these 14 year olds don’t seem like the norm. People are saying it shows the reality of teens, but the one scene of them partying seems quite out of the realm of a 14-15 year old freshman in high school experience. I like the visuals, but some of the random pauses and audio in the back seems unnecessary to the story. They don’t push the Story forward or provide any real context. The show overall is quite confusing to me. You don’t know what one person feels or what they might be leading onto, because by the next episode it becomes jumbled. And in that way I think they did a good job at depicting the mystifying aspect of adolescence. I know the main characters are 14-15, but I think this might have actually been better if they made the characters 16 or 17. Those 2 or 3 years in adolescence make a significant difference, and the Story is better aligned with those particular years in my opinion.

The biggest problem with this movie is that it was made by lifetime. They are known for making very cringe worthy movies that lack depth. This movie had an interesting and sad story to go off of, but they didn’t provide anything. It left me feeling disconnected from the main character, Alex, along with all of the other characters. Her character lacked depth, and it caused me to not be as emotionally affected from the story, as a viewer should have been. They didn’t weave religion into the movie enough, and the parents had a major lack of depth. To me it seemed that the parents weren’t even that crazy or bad. Obviously, I think they are terrible parents for sending there daughter to conversion therapy. But, the movie didn’t really do a good job at showing how they enforced strict and harmful religious ideals. It didn’t show how deeply ingrained religion actually is for them. The characters actions also didn’t have a lead up. It was weird to me how Alex grew up in a strict Mormon household, but she always seemed almost unaware of it in some cases. They should have delved further into her fears about being gay. In the movie it seems like she wasn’t really all that scared to pursue a relationship with Frankie. And, also the way the relationship was portrayed was entirely cringe inducing. I realize she is only 16, but movies like the Miseducation of Cameron Post did a better job of showing teen relationships. Overall, the move missed many marks. This could have been a wonderfully heart wrenching story, but the emotion was just not there. It left me disinterested at times, because I didn’t feel anything for the characters because of the lack of depth.
