Movies have become so normalized and expected today that its easy to forget that they are meant to say something and make us feel. This movie is maybe one of the best for that--telling you that we can all have a purpose and a passion, primarily expressed through poetry in Dead Poet's Society.
Robin Williams plays perhaps his most genuine self here, as someone that recognizes the fragility and briefness of life, and that to leave a legacy you must have a passion in life, and be willing to express your true self. "But only in their dreams can men be truly free."
There isn't any action or thrills in this movie. But you will have trouble finding a film that will feel more authentic, or encourage a viewer to aspire for more.
