Better than 1 and 3, on par with 2. The dystopian universe is even more... I don't know...hopeless? Hundreds of years have passed and the whole thing is basically just some messed up experiment in the middle of nowhere. Everyone is long dead, Weyland-Yutani is gone. It honestly kind of resets the whole franchise. Yeah it's got action movie feels, but so did Aliens. So that's a moot argument. The actors do a decent job with the screenplay which I think is one of Whedons better ones. This movie hits on a lot of the key notes and tones from the original trilogy. While bringing in some influence from the culture that made this franchise famous. *SPOILERS BELOW* The scene when the crew of the Betty enter the Big Military ship I thought to myself "These are the player characters if this was a game." This movie also did a good job on challenging my expectations. The first character from the Betty to die is "Coolguy Captain". Why? Because he wanted ANOTHER friggin gun even though he already had one in each hand. The dumb guys live and the slick ones all get chomped. Granted, there are plenty of tropes and cliches which seem inescapable in a creature feature nowadays. That being said, It's still a fun horror movie night throwback. It was made right around the time CGI and practical effects were still used together to make something look GOOD and not too flashy *cough*Marvel*cough*. Movies used to be cinematic, now they just kind of feel like carnival rides.

Absolutely the worst time travel related movie ever. So many holes you might as well call it Swiss and put it on a sandwich. "We're soldiers from the future but we wear paintball armor." Couldn't finish it. If the population of War Earth was only half a million why not just start bailing people to the safe earth and spend 30 years developing a way to kill the incoming alien invasion. "Nah lets send all of our population there to die protecting an alternate timeline with barely the population of the country of Malta. Let them burn and gear up for the year 2050... Derrrp. Really heavy handed with the "Everyone has a family" thing and "Do your duty fighting a plothole, I mean thank you for your service". We all know war sucks and families are broken. But hey, aliens and time travel make for a great family movie night right? Garbage coated garbage with garbage filling. Honestly the best parts are the gunfights, I think that's where the budget went. That being said Chris Pratt did good job with this "paying the bills" actor credit.

Low rent version of The Boys. Skip it.

The movie was better, book was best. What erks me is they call it a Hulu original. Maybe I just don't understand what original means but it sounds wrong to me.

Back in a Golden Era known as the 90's, we were blessed with some awesome action flicks. Thought panned by critics, I think this one was a bit underrated. Travolta really nails the bad guy persona. Slater, kind of phoned in as the action hero. I mean he does an alright job but here he is as the Protagonist of the film and Travolta is basically holding an acting class. Zimmer make his mark with his signature scores (The Rock came out this year too and I swear he just copy pasted for these two movies). All in all a fun popcorn flick.

Is it just me or does Aaron sound like Denzel.

Embellishments aside this is a good flick. The cast does a great job with what they got and the suspense is solid. Historical inaccuracies are my only bugaboo.

This was RDJ's comeback. Ironman was great but everyone accredits that as his big comeback role. Whilst I consider Ironman as a comeback for the Comic Book movies which had been suffering in popularity and quality (Raimi's Spiderman being an exception IMO). Dark quip filled humor and a murder conspiracy that isn't completely ridiculous (Writing was pretty good). Kilmer is HILARIOUS in every scene and brings a lot of chemistry alongside RDJ. Michelle is great in her role, though she doesn't get a lot from the script to work with. Her character while not being a straight stereotype, still seems a little 2 dimensional (again, not her fault she brought great life to the part). You can definitely see RDJ growing into the confident, colorful person we all love today. After facing his addiction problem and coming back he really showed everyone the talent he had suppressed.

Honestly better than I thought. *SPOILER* Though about 45 minutes in you will cry.

A worthy conclusion. It was most excellent.
