Overall I thought it was a fairly realistic portrayal of how things often end up playing out in our world. Life at the end is messy, but if you keep going, you'll find the light at the end of the tunnel. Although, here's my thing. Harper gaslights, or betrays is probably more accurate. Harper is so obsessed with her image for her parents-probably not her fault- she forces Abby to lie about her fundamental nature as a person. Although I could deal with it at that point, what really made her somewhat unredeemable is when Riley tells Abby how Harper outed her in front of the whole school to save her own skin when her parents found the love letters Riley wrote for her. She has been repeating this behavior. It's the history of abusive behaviors for me. And yes, I understand that it wasn't Harper's fault that she felt she needed to hide her sexuality, but her parents weren't even outright homophobic, and she harmed others, she claimed to "love" to save herself. Overall I know that it's supposed to be a feel-good holiday movie, with some spice, but something about Harper's behavior just didn't sit right with me
