I really enjoyed this movie despite my distaste for gory horror and thoroughly sick to death of vampires (with the occasional exception).
I've read Bram Stoker's Dracula and found the concept of the story being told through letters, newspaper articles and journal entries interesting but not scary in the least (where as a 19th century reader may have been terrified).
This movie is centered around the Captain's Log chapter and is fairly true to the source material.
Not a fan of the departure from the OG Dracula teeth but not a deal breaker either.
I appreciate them taking what I thought was a boring story and turning it into a dark, terrifying and tragic movie - and making vampires scary again.
