Superb film noir, reminiscent of Polanski's "Chinatown." Wonderful cast, set design, lighting, and more. The film captures the gritty, lazy underbelly of Los Angeles in 1932 during the Depression. Also features a beautiful trumpet in the soundtrack. HBO should be proud of this one.
