An unconvicted pedophile brought his wet dream to the screen! Early 20s, barely legal adults participating in adult things. Drugs, sex & R-rated conversations. It follows a female who looks like a high school sophomore, meeting older, powerful, Hollywood men who instantly emotionally connect with her while the sexual tension between her and these 50 somethings builds until the second to final act.
This uninspiring plot wouldn’t be complete without an intercepted climax from Fanning in a bra and panties about to have sex with one of them, but another woman drops in to readily do it instead.
Allen finally introduces another bizarre topic, one of prostitution as a result of success and social position for a respected UES family who happens to be tied to the mother to the all too moody, cerebral protagonist played by Chalamet—at which he’s prouder for it.
Despite it’s elegant style the movie portrays a window into the mind of a much older man’s obsession with younger women. As a non pedophile, I can’t really appreciate a plot only about sexual arousal masquerading as a work of “art”. I think moving forward studios should truly vet the scripts before handing over 25 million to a pervert.
