Lacking in all areas but the visuals! So the film ended 2 people started to applaud and the rest of the cinema was silent! I have never walked out of a Star Wars film where no one is talking about it or their favourite scenes etc until last night! The silence was deafening! Some nice cameos and nods to the franchise alumni but distinctly lacking in a coherent plot. A lacklustre end to what should have been spectacular fanfare and farewell to a much loved franchise. SPOILERS: Rey's Parentage and blood line as a Palpatine was contrived at best and had nowhere near the impact of the Luke and Vader reveal. The final battle rehash of ROTJ's climatic scenes just went to show that there was a distinct lack of any original thought put into this movie. Blink and you miss it cameos from ANH, ESB and ROTJ stalwarts such as Wedge Antilles did little for the overall film and seem more of sop to the fans to keep them happy. Seems to have been a lot of box ticking going on with little thought put to the overall film. The editing could have a lot to do with this and like the original ANH could probably have done with a second edit to have it make more sense and flow better! Having had time to digest the film and after a good nights sleep I have to say I still feel cheated! I hate this feeling and wish I did not have it as Star Wars has been part of my life since that first trip into the Galaxy far far away in 1977 as 7 year old child and i wanted the saga to end with a bang not a whimper! I feel let down, gutted, sad and angry that a once great saga has been turned into this soul less schlock.
