I had been excited about this film, each earlier Alien film had got better, and like a supportive family had seemed to pass the baton on to the next one, but Romulus dropped it for me. There were so many clichés, big eyes, and heavy breathing. Bits of gratuitous bondage too! When Prometheus is a thriller with a message about human origins, Romulus is a horror spectacle that focuses on human and android relationships and instant whipped up aliens. And whilst I did appreciate the AI resurrection of Ian Holm, the rehash of well known Sigourney Weaver quotes was ridiculously out of place as it was out of context. When we were meant to be drawn into this film in the belief it's story could be real, why reduce its value to a comic, having the cast quote lines the viewer was only first privy to?
