This film is just....... amazing.
Normally with remakes, I'm not too keen on them especially when Disney ruins classic films like Dumbo and The Lion King.
But remaking the first 7 episodes of Series 1 in full CGI..... was absolutely mind blowing.
But, I was absolutely gobsmacked when I heard remade renditions of the original themes by Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell. Seriously. It was absolutely amazing.
I applaud the team at HIT Entertainment for doing this. And I also salute Andrew Brenner for retelling these stories for modern day. It is that amazing.
Speaking of amazing...... the animation. Oh my god. The animation. It is massively improved over the animation in Tale of the Brave and Series 18. It almost looks like something out of a Pixar movie because it's that amazing.
I also love how they gave James his black livery from The Railway Series and gave Thomas a green LBSC livery. Remember that learning segment where the narrator asked what Thomas would look like if he was painted green? Well, here's your answer.
The only things that just kind of bugged me is the fact that Tidmouth Sheds has seven berths when it should only have six and the fact that Henry is in his new shape instead of his old shape.
And speaking of Henry..... one nitpick I have with him in this special is the fact that he is literally afraid of the rain.
But, that's everything that bugged me in this movie. Everything else about it was amazing!
The animation was stunning. John Hasler's performance as Thomas was brilliant and charming to listen to. And my god, that chase scene towards the end was amazing.
Fantastic film. 9 out of 10.
