To start. I would like to acknowledge that this is not a show for people are easily offended by a feminist agenda. This show goes deep into the idea that men are garbage and unnecessary for women. But it is noted that throughout the show, it is made known that the one controlling the island, just wants people to see the potential of women and not undermine them just because they are women. That being said.....
A show that goes into depth about the struggles of being a teenage girl in America is just what television needed. 8 backgrounds, 8 personalities, 8 phenomenal young women portrayed to express any and every hardship that comes with coming of age. The acting done by these young women is far above anything I could've imagined. More specifically, everyone needs to watch out for up and coming actress Mia Healey, an Australian native who landed her first role in The Wilds straight out of NIDA. Her ability to capture the audience with her portrayal of Shelby, a Texas-grown, faith-driven teenager who struggles with accepting her sexuality is yet another needed portrayal in Hollywood today. So watch out for these amazing women and get ready for an even better season 2 hopefully coming in the next year!
