While I have poured myself into Robert Jordan's 14-book series multiple times over the years with the same youthful enthusiasm I felt the first time I picked up the Eye of World as a child, after watching Prime's tv adaptation of the series I was left more disappointed than a five year old suburban kid who just found out Santa doesn't really exist. Brandon Sanderson's clunky attempt to write a fitting ending for the spectacularly developed, full, and rich world created by Jordan shines in comparison to Prime's six hour-long episodes packed with a script and cast less interesting than a pile of kangaroo poop. The Wheel of Time was never going to translate well into the tv screen without the backing of people who truly believed in the story and were committed to the long haul. It is obvious only six episodes in the Prime does not employ those people. From casting, to script writing, to pacing, this show is absolute trash. While changes to the story are inevitable during any adaptation of book to film, the changes made to this story were unnecessary and undermine the very foundations of Randland--and what was a very good story. While none of the cast does a great job capturing thier character's personality and essence, Rosamund Pike comes the closest and truly is this show's only hope.
