Choppy... it didn't flow well enough for me. "Get to the next scene! Get to the next scene!" The script sounded like it was written ... for an audience that wasn't expected to do much thinking nor was the audience expected to be impressed with the dialogue a lot of times. There's no memorable line. every good movie needs a memorable line. That is one of the criteria in what makes a memorable movie.
Grace is an excellent actor, considering what she had for a script. She deserved better. Jasmine was also very believable and memorable. She didn't over do it. Rory was spot on with the almost autistic focus on the task, excusing himself from most senses of humanity and compassion; just like an attorney.
Of course, Sarah was spot on. I'm surprised Ms. Rashad accepted the role. It was quite beneath her. Yet, she brought the character, ...character. Moved the character up a notch. Alice! ... perfect. Ms. Tyson ...c'mon. I bow down. She respects the craft and does it well; as this is definitely an understatement. ...for so long. ...has not fallen off. Character awareness is brilliant. ...could go on, but..
Finally, I hated Shannon. Maybe that was the plan. Yet, I did not like him from the jump. I'm thinking that hairstyle was on purpose, to rub us the wrong way. I couldn't get past it. Bobby Brown don't even cut it like that no mo'. The believable level of sophistication and worldliness ascribed to the character in the beginning did not hit the back of my throat. He tried. His whole "1989 hair and wardrobe, as smooth and cool as 'Full Force get busy one time...." look... I really want to ask someone, was that done on purpose.
He DID totally pull off the "I HATE THIS GUY!," type of feeling from the moment he entered "the stage..."
