It's gotta be down the bottom of my list in terms of Call of Duty games and arguably one of the worst CoD games from this console generation (yes, even worse than Ghosts).
Skipping on the campaign (which is pretty decent and where most of the stars for this review come from) and moving onto multiplayer, this is probably the game's biggest disappointment. Despite there being no loot boxes and cross platform play, the microtransactions in this game are horrendously overpriced for what they are. You're paying half the price of the game's recommended retail price for any of the bundles that include a weapon skin, a character skin, a calling card and maybe a weapon charm. You've already got a pay to enter battle pass in the game Infinity Ward, why do you need a store on top of that?
And we haven't even gotten into the meat and potatoes of the game yet! Multiplayer is HORRENDOUS! It's not without it's moments, don't get me wrong, but it's easily the most campy CoD game in recent memory with a stagnant weapon meta that consists of four guns constantly dominating the others from their selected categories, needlessly complicated maps that are sometimes too big for their own good, god-awful spawning mechanics and a time to kill so fast that occasionally it doesn't even feel like you're getting shot at. You're just *pfffft* dead. I know CoD always has been a twitchy shooter that rewards fast reflexes and precise aiming, but when you get nailed in 0.2 seconds by some guy with an MP5 all the time without having a chance to react or even have some kind of gunfight, it sucks. I like having a chance to fight back before I just get deleted off the map. And this game's sucky netcode doesn't help either.
Ground War was the only saving grace for me for quite a while up until recently when Infinity Ward completely neglected the mode and have just started re-using areas from the warzone map without any changes. It's lazy and it's not treating a portion of your playerbase with respect.
And Warzone... Good god. I'm hard pressed to even call that mess a Battle Royale, because it certainly doesn't play like one! After you drop in it's basically just another game of Multiplayer on a bigger map with more people. The projectile speed of the weapons means that you can get lasered from 300+ meters away by an Assault Rifle... Not a marksman or sniper rifle which should be ideal for those ranges, an ASSAULT RIFLE. And the weapon meta in that is stagnant too. Good luck finding someone who isn't using an RPG, Grau or MP5.
And spec ops... Didn't even work properly up until a few months ago and doesn't have anywhere near the same amount of features as the spec ops mode from MW2/3. Games that are almost 10 YEARS OLD NOW! How could you make a game worse than something from 10 years ago you absolute bell ends? Coupled with the lack of acknowledgment to the community's issues with the game and what you're left with is a nostalgia trap that has nothing in common with the classic games that this monstrosity shares it's name with. Modern Warfare 2019 is a waste of time, money and energy made by a decaying husk of a studio that shouldn't even be called "Infinity Ward" anymore because all it's talent left to make a far better and more competent studio.
You want a fun FPS experience? Literally play anything other than this casual infested train wreck. I'd rather play Black Ops 4 any day.
