This movie is made for those who love old, Hollywood classics. Dialogues are minimum, but expressions (writers' and actors') are priceless. This form of storytelling is getting lost in shining costumes and heavy CGI. It is simplistic, but it works.

Mommie Dearest doesn't do 100% justice to the legend Joan Crawford was. However, I can't hide the fact that it's sensational and at places unintentionally funny (which is amusing itself). Diana Scarwid (plays Christina Crawford) impresses while Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford goes over the top many times. What this film largely reminds you of is Joan's legacy as a Hollywood superstar who "made it" in silents as well as talkies. She deserved a better film. Having said that, if I had to rate it as a critic, I would still give it 6/10.

A gem of a Movie! Anybody who is studying film making should definitely watch this one. It is a well-acted and well-edited film, something extraordinary for a year like 1969. A must-watch indeed! The leading actor and actress shine through as far as performances are concerned.

Amazing! It is one of the best Hollywood movies I have watched from the 1980s. Amazing performances by everyone, however, it's Eric Roberts who leaves the lasting impression. He should have won Oscar for his performance. A must watch for cine-goers who like watching disaster movies.
