Okay so yes, a lot of those 1 and 2 star reviews were probably deserved AT THE TIME. As a massive Fallout fan I didn’t buy the game when it first came out as I felt a solely online game would detract from the story and gameplay of its predecessors, as well as hearing all the online hate. However, I downloaded it through Microsoft Gamepass because what had I got to lose if I did and now I’m hooked!
A lot of the old complaints that ‘there’s nothing to do’, ‘it’s massively buggy’, no NPC’s’, ‘there’s no factions’ etc. are no longer relevant. Yes, occasionally there’s a bug here and there but you show me any massive open world game without glitches and bugs!
Update’s and adding of quests have opened up a barren wasteland with factions to side with, compared to previous FO games the perk system has been rebalanced to ensure no godlike players are ruling the wasteland, customisation of armour, apparel, player bases and weapons is designed to make you put time in, instead of just blasting through the game. Joinable events don’t require you to ‘team up’, you can still join as a lone player, complete the event, receive rewards and the be on your way doing as you please.
In all this is a cheap game that is going to give you hours of gameplay and you’ll always have an objective in mind when turning on your console or loading up your PC.
A must try for any fans of the previous Fallout genre
