I found the movie to be exceptional. It wasn’t the original, it couldn’t be. The voice acting was phenomenal, the new tones to Scar landed well, the jokes were great, the music (even the differences) was great, and it was breathtaking to look at. If you go in comparing it to the amazing original (my favorite movie of all time btw), you won’t enjoy it. It’s not going to be as good, but that doesn’t make it any less great. I will add, that like The Jungle Book, expressions didn’t land well. That was a little tough to get over in the Jungle Book, but because I expected it, it didn’t bother me as much in this film. The original was so expressive and while the voice actors did a good job expressing it vocally, it’s something that I missed.
