Brilliant. The story told with a depth of detail necessary, but also constantly engaging. I feel better informed about the era and the circumstances, and the characters came to life,but of course these wern't just characters but real people with researched verified backgrounds,and in the era of photographs. I couldn't put the book down, compliments to the author who took such care with the facts, but also the real storytelling style of his writings, he writes like we think and talk. A very special book and I'm afraid I will have to get my own copy now as its made its way around the family, and I miss it. It gave me things to think about, and tears. My ancestry is very English, hence my interest likely, but I have an English ancestor who fought on the side of the Boar, it must have been difficult despite ones convictions. Thankyou for such a fair and accurate depiction
