It's ok. Not nearly as good as a lot of people here are saying. Ralph Macchio has never been that good of an actor. What did he do after Karate Kid aside from My Cousin Vinny where he was just along for the ride? Exactly.. nothing. The writing has its moments. They implement 80's nostalgia effectively. The problem is that there is way too much garbage in this series. Why so much profanity and sex. The Karate Kid movies were never that way and didn't need to be. Why is it necessary to throw in lesbianism between teens? Stop force feeding us this kind of vomit. I can't sit down and watch this with my children because of all of the unnecessary filth. Another problem is there are way too many teens in this series. Teens typically aren't great actors. Strong performances by teens are few and far between. They just don't have the experience yet. I will say that William Zabka is excellent in this series. To be frank he is the main reason I watch. His character is mostly believable. I do find it hard to go along with him knowing nothing about technology, but I'll come along for the ride because of how he executes his role flawlessly. To be that oblivious to what the world is like today you would have to have been in a cave or something for the last 3 decades. I'm guessing this series was mostly developed to target the middle aged who want to go back in time and remember what it was like. 3 stars is fair. Worth watching, but too many weaknesses in the writing.
