Decadent acting and painfully close to home. This film is therapeutic in that it helps the viewer identify with the chaos we are experiencing right now. If you turn on the news and daily find yourself wanting to throw the remote and scream “what the f$&?!,” then this movie is for you. I’ve read the comments and naturally those who don’t lean left are angered. This picture isn’t for everyone, but many will find some space to chuckle and feel seen. I’m glad this exists. We will look back on this as a glimpse into the agony that has been 2020.

This is an absolute work of art! The visuals are not only captivating, but the piece celebrates culture and history with innovation by mixing the old with the new via several mediums. I see many complaints about the message of the piece, which is why it needs to exist. These voices need to be heard. There is truly nothing like it and we are far overdue. Black is King speaks to inclusion in an intoxicating melding of fashion, art, music, and heritage. A true museum piece. Huge congrats to Bey and Disney + for putting this out there. It is so valuable and important. This visual album will be remembered as a timeless and stunning arthouse gala of BIPOC elegance. A new favorite.
