This film is not relentlessly funny! It is a dark tale for the most part, historically inaccurate other than the characters did exist, but really well acted out by the predominately female headliners. There are some witty one liners and short scenes but this was not a laugh out loud comedy. It was not quite what I expected but if you like a bawdy, Chaucer like tale of a battle for social status then this is a film to see. Be prepared for some naughty words and some sexual elements (none too graphic). Best to read through some Wiki info (or perhaps more) before you go to understand the context of the story and the period it is set in.
