Maybe my history is rusty but, Stanton served Lincoln's presidency and into Johnson's. He didn't resign.
Custer was killed by the Sioux in 1876.
Armistead was killed in Pickett's charge.
I am enjoying the book but wondering why they would add this revision of history.
