I don't know if this is a good insight to life in orthodox Brooklyn? Is it that stifling always? Are there no moments of joy for anyone?
Excellent acting all round, but there have to be some questions on the plot (spoiler alert).
Why does it end where it ends with her husband and his drinking gambling cousin still in Berlin with nothing to show for their efforts?
Are they both going to just return home having failed in their mission to recover Esty? If so how did that return go down back in Williamsburg? What was the gun the cousin brought with him for and how did it get through airport security anyhow? Why did the simple sight of her mother with her partner stop her from approaching her mother. Didn't want to interfere in her personal life maybe but a strange decision since her mother's presence was the sole reason for her flight to Berlin in the first place?
Maybe all this is as it happened but since it's only supposed to be loosely based on the true story in any case could the writers not have resolved some of this for us - especially the gun thing?
