Beautiful portrait of a depressed and mentally ill man living as the downtrodden.
You begin this movie soaking in the pity and testing the limits of your own empathy; but eventually find yourself confused by your desire to see him climb to the power that The Joker is inevitably meant to conquer. Although you hate to see him beginning to hurt the people he loves, you also hate the ones who have wronged him. This movie won’t answer your questions about society, but it certainly will make you consider if you played a part in creating him. The present time may be confused by this movie now, but this film will be remembered. Perhaps as a masterpiece. 9/10
