[1] must be strictly followed by the police is that no woman can be arrested before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m., even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her.(section 46 of Civil Procedure Code of India, 1973).
2. The police cannot compel a woman for her physical presence at the police station, if they have to interrogate her. A woman can be interrogated at her residence, in presence of her family members. (Section 160 of Civil procedure Code of India, 1973)
3. While making an arrest of a woman, presence of at least one female police officer is compulsory under the law.
4. While attempting to arrest a woman, only a female police officer can search the women to be arrested. The decency and dignity of the woman has to be maintained and no male officer can make a search on her.
5. While making an arrest of a pregnant woman restrains should only be used in rare cases and her health should be kept safe.
6. The women arrested should be kept in separate lock ups than the one used for male in male in mates in the jail.
7. Medical examination of woman can be carried out only in presence of a female medical practitioner. (Section 53(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973)
8. If a woman has been arrested for an offence which is not of a serious nature, then bail can be granted to her. Discretion can only be exercised in case of non-bailable offences.
9. The woman arrested has to be guarded only by the female police officers.
