"Harriet" is one of the best films I've seen in a very long time, and factually correct for the most part. Some characters are composites of actual people, however. I've seen films on slavery that have left me feeling ill because of the gratuitous violence, and for me, that detracts from the heros. I can't appreciate the multidimensional aspects of the characters when there is too much cruelty. "Harriet" clearly implies the hatred and inhumanity of the slave owners, but rather than focus on that, the film focuses on Harriet Tubman. I learned so much from this film. I am pleased that the film portrayed Harriet's deep faith in God, as well - not an insignificant factor by any means.
