A rather self important and self indulgent exercise in showing off. Not as ludicrous as other recent "deep" space films its still strains to show just how important silence can be. Its not without merit in any way shape or form. Its just trys a little too hard to be just that little too ernest. Without any respite, relief from the tension and angst. Its enjoyable enough and not overly long but Pitts charm is lost in the deep, wounded and brooding character. Maybe this the point. Maybe he is still thinking he has the shadow of gorgeousness and charm dragging him down. He doesn't he has fully earnt his acting spurs if not his looks or charm. Whilst this is a good film and an interesting story it does lack anything too raise a smile. Maybe i just wasn't in the mood for no entertainment as in fun and just thought provoking. Maybe i just love the likes of Tommy and Brad giving it large rather than controlled and tempered. Maybe I'll just have to watch it again when I'm in a more deep and meaningful mood.
