This is the worst movie I have ever seen. The guy three seats behind me burst out laughing at the death scenes. There is NO excuse for anyone to make a movie this bad. I could say that every film in the series before this was above average, but this isn't even a film. The twists don't just ditch the entire continuity of the last 4 decades, they retcon my very faith in cinema. It is a TRAGEDY that THIS was the last time I'd walk into a theater for a year. Even though the ball dropped 5 hours after I watched this, it still ruined the entire decade for me. What type of person liked this film? I honestly can't think of a single demographic that would see this film and then call it acceptable. JJ Abrams is the worst director ever, just for the last 15 minutes of this....NO WORD CAN DESCRIBE THIS. If you're a sentient creature, avoid this soul piercing "expirience" at all costs!

After watching octonauts, I wondered about other shows used speculative ecological world building. This immediately came to mind. I LOVE this show, it has everything that you could want in a kids show like this. I think it's art style is eh, but it's mystical undertones are amazing. The dinosaur train itself is very interesting, with it bridging the gap between times. The show takes place between the Triassic and Cretaceous periods, giving lots of time to show off different creatures. The Triassic period has an arid feel, while the Jurassic and Cretaceous have a more tropical feel. It take our lack of information on the past and uses it to it's advantage, it asks the question "what could have lived in the vast expanses of deep time", and that's what I like about it. Ok, it's time to address the. Elephant in the room. Speilburgh copied dinosaur train, no going around it. While I love both, I can't say with confidence that Jurassic Park is an origina work of art. With that said, I believe that it didn't disrespect the original show. I think that people won't like me saying that, but Speilburgh did nothing wrong legally, but he also didn't do anything wrong morally, now please stop sending hate to Jurassic Park fans, just because you just found out that "It's a total rip off". So, in conclusion Dinosaur train is a great work of art and has effected pop culture in ways noone could've imagined.

I think the world building is really good. For a show meant for preschool children, you can tell they put effort into it. I am just blow away, the whole show takes place in the "Ocean", which is a really big lake (with the shows futuristic design I think it's supposed to take place post climate). The creatures feel real and even take inspiration from real world animals with names like spider crab. I also adore the fact they are mostly real animal phyla, it gives a feel that this is how fish crabs, and even mammals could evolve in such a situation. I personally know many people who think that the ocean is real, most have never even heard of octonauts. When I tell people they usually don't believe me for a while, until they realize how funny it was they thought a huge salt water lake separated the continents. The technology part of the writing isn't as interesting but I think that the fact they make 2 completely new species each episode, I feel I can give them a break. In conclusion I think people tend to think that kids entertainment should be just be eye candy, shows like this and Avatar show the world otherwise.
