The movie itself seems to be targeted towards 5-6 year olds in writing style but pre-teen in theme. E.x. Anxiety, bullying, facing fears but with dialog where an “oh geez Louise I forgot my pajamas” wouldn’t feel out of place. There was a mix of some great movies like diary of a wimpy kid, inside out, and big hero six. Sadly mixing these together kind of landed like mixing mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. To some it might sound appealing but broadly it feels like good things blended into something bad. If you have kids that are too young to understand the theme and just want something different on screen, go for it. But as a parent, have something else to do or something to read. You’ll want it.

First ever movie review but I really thought this needed to be out there as a warning for fans of the first one. Nothing wrong with the cursing imo if you watched the first one you knew what to expect with that, but the plot honestly was something you’d expect to see out of a B-rated James Bond knock off. The scripting was the most cliche display of horrible and unchecked writing and I feel so bad for Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek and Samuel L Jackson for appearing in this movie and having to try and live up to their performance in the last one. I really kept rooting for it to be as great as it’s predecessor, but the feeling never came. The fact that there are 5 star reviews for this shocks me. As a fan of the first movie this was a very cheap imitation that cut deep into my respect for the outstanding performance in the last film. Im almost embarrassed to have been such a fan of the last one and now, frankly I just want the 100 minutes of my life back. God love the actors for really trying to make it happen and if by chance any one of you happen to read this just know that It really does shine through how much work you put in to trying to force the square peg in a round hole making the lines they gave you believable. TLDR: if you loved the first movie, don’t watch this one. It’s, really, I mean it’s just god awful.
