The only redeeming qualities of this movie were the visually stunning set & costume design, and the action scenes. It is poorly written and so unbelievably historically inaccurate. Not to mention the multiple filming blunders, for example Denzel's atrocious fake earrings and a monkey that eats modern day fruit snacks on camera. It's such a low effort cash grab trying to capitalize on the success of an actually good predecessor. It was not worth the $20 I spent to rent it, and I wish I hadn't spent the money.

Would give this show 0 stars if I could. The writers completely changed already established canon events written by Tolkien. If the writers wanted to urinate on Tolkien's grave so bad, it would've been quicker and millions of dollars cheaper to just drive there instead of wasting everyone's time making this utter garbage. The world would have been a better place without the making of this show. I hope the writers of this show never work again for fear that they ruin another already established intellectual property of a great writer. The costume and set design feel more like amateur LARPers than a multimillion dollar production. The acting is the only real redeemable quality. Overall a terrible viewing experience that makes "The Hobbit" trilogy look like "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Watched this movie after listening to The Devils of Loudun episode of The Last Podcast On The Left. This is a great movie and I would recommend it.
