This film is excellent. Well done, especially the surprise ending. It was brilliant. But people do need to know the real Tate/Polanski story to appreciate it. Also a knowledge of Westerns and TV dramas of the era helps one understand the nuances. Tarantino creates a semi satire of part of an era and uses classic references and acting styles of the day (when the actors are “acting”). I think this film will appeal more to people that like and understand nuances - Dostoyevsky instead of cheap romance and obvious thrillers. Fine dinning instead of McDonalds or Marios. This film is subtle (until the deliberate satire of a Horror show kicks in) and it was a pleasure to watch. It went by fast for me because I love detail, nuances and good acting. I think Roman would like it. It is the ending that should have been. 9/10
