Hi everyone, let me start with a few quick points for some context:
- I am a member of gen Z.
- I identify as politically independent.
- I have been a long-time fan of Bo Burnham and especially liked his early comedy specials.
Okay time to jump into this. I began this special admittedly expecting something along the lines of what. or Make Happy. After the opening sequence I began waiting for jokes that never appeared. I honestly have to suspend my disbelief when reading these reviews that praise blatant politically correct pandering as hilariously funny. I do appreciate Bo's openness on depression and the state of despair in the world but as long time fans would know it's nothing new. Instead of creating an opportunity to make light of things like in "Kill Yourself" this programme comes off as a self loathing pity party. Throughout Inside I found myself wondering if he was really making fun of the viewpoints he expressed and the fact that I wasn't sure should say a lot. Bo said that he felt like an 8th grade girl during his interviews for the movie 8th Grade. As someone who also went through a Marxist phase when they were 14, let me tell you Bo, you'll grow out of it.
