The renew Are You Afraid of The Dark - Carnival Of Doom, was truly great. I enjoy the classic, but the 2019 bring a lot of its own story enjoyable moment. the first 2 episode was breath taking, however, the final 3rd episode conclusion could have improve in terms of the mystery and motive for the super nature. All and all, it is a great series for all age. As for 2021 Are you afraid of the dark - Curse Of The Shadows, was a disappointing approach. The very 1st episode fail to set up the character and the issue here is not the acting, but rather the character was flat and annoying with there lack of growth. Where the 2019 version succeeded, this 2021 did not in its character. The plot inconsistency for example: the weakness of the shadowman was at times effective and ineffective. There was time that the kids display extreme high intellect of the event and than the plot just suddenly needed them to be lame or just not able to do so due to the plot. There are also times that the fan service was overly done, like using too many classic AYAOTD hint just to sell you about it. To conclude, this is still a fun watch and I truly hope for more new season to come that will have better character development and story that what the classic gave us was between horror and moral of the story that would develop the character and not using love interest plot to cover its character growth. Carnival of Doom - 4.5/5 {Due to ending could improve} Curse of Shadow - 2.5/5 {Due to the pacing and character was terrible handle and at time annoying to even watch}
