Though it may be a little too "Irish" for some, it was a most enjoyable and touching story about the difficulties, love and support an Irish family in 1950, living in a town on the west coast of Ireland which is finally getting electricity, experiences during a rather miraculous summer. Every page seemed to disclose another magical way of describing what would normally be seen as every day life, exuding kindness and compassion for family and strangers alike in a delightful and lyrical way. Best book this old man has ever read.
