I feel that everything that can be done right on an adaptation was done superbly. But what do you expect when it’s made by many of the same staff as cowboy bebop and samurai champloo? Spectacular direction, AMAZING score by Yoko Kono, and stunning animation.
The only fault I have with it is in the premise of the story itself. While told delicately and artfully, the bare bones of the story seem to be glorifying terrorism; which was an itch in the back of my mind the whole time I was watching it. I couldn’t help but think... why pick up this show? Couldn’t the staffs’ talents and time be put into something more tasteful?
While it is refreshing to see media pushing the boundary’s of what is socially allowed, I feel they went a little too far with this. Maybe if the society was more clearly corrupt, I could look past it easier.
Nonetheless it kept me ENGAGED. On the edge of my seat through the whole run. It was thrilling watching the crafty geniuses work through their master plan.
Overall, beautiful direction, music, and animation, but the story threw me off a bit.
