This movie is not a psychological thriller, or a twistingly dark drama, but something in the middle. It tackles race from the familiar perspective of stereotypes and tokenism. What it does differently through Kevin Harris Jr., is showcasing the push and pull faced by young black men who are trying to find themselves in a world that has already defined them. One or the other. It highlights the fact that the "world" is the teachers, parents and friends that all shape our own perception of who we are. Although slow at times, this film left me thinking about questions I thought I had the answers to, which is the mark of a great film.
