I've watched this movie yesterday and I don't think you need to watch the first movie to understand this one because I already forgot the plot of the first one. You can't help but annoyed at Nobita because he clearly haven't changed at all, even the older him is still a coward. The message is quite clear and very heartwarming, Nobita's grandma is the scene stealer.
