Poor script, lack of plot, directionless superficial narrative, unconvincing and largely irritating children. The boy Frank looks contemporary, not someone from the war years. GA does her best but is let down by weak writing and direction. Trivial and disappointing.

Disappointing exploration of stuff that has been known about adverse childhood experiences for a long time. If you work in this field you will have learned nothing. There are whole family interventions being successfully implemented throughout the world that weren’t even mentioned. The people who made this documentary have some catching up to do.

Because there was no actual criminal to catch there was a lot of unnecessary padding over three episodes and the sight of people looking stressed, hopeless, fed up or complaining became irritating.
