I am only about a third of the way through this book, and it is interesting enough so far. However, I have one issue that may seem petty, but good writers should know their subjects. At the risk of sounding ageist, King significantly fails at writing in the POV of anyone younger than the age of 75; and, when the dialogue or POV are pre-teen/teen related, it’s almost laughable. At first, I had to keep reminding myself that the novel is set in present day because maybe teenagers in the 50s spoke like the ones in this book; at best, it’s anachronistic, at worst, laughable. I read through several reviews to see if this was a “me” issue because none I read mentioned it. I had the same issue with 11-22-63, and actually didn’t make it through that one because it made the 30-something protagonist so unbelievable (and hokey to boot — and he would use the word hokey without sarcasm attached...). Anyway, done with the rant. I’ll continue reading a bit, but if the plot/characters don’t get astronomically more interesting to the point that it overshadows this annoyance, I will set another SK novel aside, and it will be my last.
